This book makes a broad survey of socio-economic changes which occurred in the state of Punjab since 1947 up to 1990. After passing through the trauma of partition of Punjab, its several governments and its enterprising people have brought out revolutionary changes in Agriculture, economy and living standard. The book delves deep into the merits and demerits of several developmental schemes and their influence on the various sections of society. The book's analysis of agricultural reforms is quite valid but its conclusions have a Marxist stance. It is a veiled criticism of capitalism and sympathetic towards the cause of the weaker sections of society. Its expression, vocabulary and diction are quite communicative and informative[edit]
