Makers of The Arya Samaj
|
Description |
This is a biography-cum-history of Arya Samaj, a religio-social reformist movement of North India in the early 20th century. It narrates the religious transformation of the founder of this movement and his propagation of Arya Samaj and teachings. It also records the founder's efforts to rid Hindu religion of idol worship, belief in rituals, superstitions and charity to priests, woman emancipation and spread of literacy. It also traces the influence of this reformist movement across several states of North India. The book presents the founder as a harbinger of social and religious renaissance and social reformist. The book lacks in critical evaluation of this movement and appears to be bit propagandistic.[edit]
