Description |
This booklet contains the amended and improved version of Sikh code of conduct (Rehat Maryada). It gives definition of a Sikh, the wording of Sikh prayer (Ardas) and methodology of major Sikh religious practices and ceremonies. Approved by S.G.P.C., it prescribes a code of conduct for all those who profess their religious faith in Sikhism and Sikh religion. It is in the form of clear instructions and commandments and standardizes. The Sikh religious practices and way of life. Specific punishments are prescribed for those who violate this code of conduct. Since its implementation, majority of Sikh Gurdwaras and Sikhs conform to this code all over the globe. This code has given a distinct identity to Sikh religion and its followers. It has also helped Sikhs to put an end to many Brahminical and Hindu ceremonies are rituals among the Sikhs. It is an important landmark in the evolution of Sikh religion.[edit]
