Punjab has been a nursery of Sikh martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their religious, political and human rights. S. Sewa Singh Thikriwala (1882'1935) is one of the prominent freedom fighters and Sikh martyrs of Punjab in the twentieth century. Founder of Praja Mandal Movement, an Akali activist, he underwent imprisonment for many years and finally sacrificed his life after being tortured by the feudal rules of Patiala state.
