This collection contains rare documents of great historical importance about the life, struggle and sacrifice of great Indian freedom fighter against British rule in Punjab soon after the annexation of Punjab by the British. These documents were collected by the author from the National Archives of India and published as such as a source material for the history of Punjab. These documents mostly written by British high officials governing Punjab after Punjab's annexation give a vivid description of the activities and sufferings of Bhai Maharaj Singh during his campaign against the British rule. He is, thus, one of the legendary heroes of Punjab in the mid nineteenth century. These documents can be used as the most reliable reference material by researchers and scholars of Punjab History.[edit]
