Catalogue of Khalsa Darbar Records
|
Description |
That Maharaja Ranjit Singh's rule over Punjabi in the first half of 19th century was marked by a systematic administration of military, civil and judicial wings is revealed by the meticulously written and well-preserved records of the Khalsa Darbar. This volume I contains records pertaining to Regular Army, Irregular Cavalry, Accounts of Receipts and Expenditure and Descriptive Rolls related to military administration. These records numbering 129 covering a period of 38 years from (1811 to 1849) are written on the quality paper loose sheets tied within two fine quality Kashmiri wooden sheets and sealed with cotton padding. The compiler has not only catalogued these records in a few volumes but added a brief description to each catalogue highlighting its distinct features. These original records throw a flood of light on the style and quality of Maharaja's Military Administration.[edit]
