Bharti Pracheen Lipee Mala

Description It gives an almost encyclopaedic account of the major Indian scripts and their specimen. All these ancient scripts have not only enriched each other through borrowing letters and words from each other but also enriched all the modern Indian Languages including Punjabi. The book originally written in Hindi but now translated in Punjabi gives the origin, evolution and history of growth of the major Indian scripts. Prominent among these scripts are Brahmni script, Khroshti, Gupt-Script, Ketil, Nagri, Sharda, Bangla, Telegu, Kannad, Kling and Vatellutu scripts. Besides this information, it also records the different writing materials such as leaves, parchments, cloth, metal. It is a ready reckoner for researchers. [edit]
