Sachi Sakhi

Description As the title of this book in Punjabi speaks, it is a chronological account of the major historical events highlighting the suppression and exploitation of the Sikh both by the Muslims and the Hindus. Beginning with the Muslim atrocities on the Sikhs in the sixteenth century up to the early 19th century, it also includes the betrayal of the Sikh by the Hindus after India's independence and partition based on the 'Communal Award' of 1932. At the personal level, it gives an account of the dismissal of the author from the prestigious post of I.C.S. by the Indian/Punjab governments in the post independence years on the flimsy grounds and its unjust validation by the Supreme Court of India. The whole account makes a very painful reading and brings out the gross betrayal and discrimination against the Sikhs as a distinct religious community. It is a 'Sachi Sakhi' in the true sense[edit]
