Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Description The collection of essays published on the occasion of the first centurary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1939, highlights the various facets of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's personality and his style of Governance. The essays are written by prominent historians and scholars. While Dr Ganda Singh has narrated the biographical details of Maharaja and his image in the minds of others, other writers have written about Maharaja's consolidation of Sikh Misls into one sovereign Sikh state, his abolition of Sikh institution of Gurmatta, his military organization, Civil Administration including Taxation, Agriculture, Irrigation, his policy towards the British and N.W.F.P.
