Title Indictment of Patiala
Description Assassinations, murders most foul, conspiracies, intrigues, abduction and molestation of women, confiscation of private properties are some of heinous crimes committed during the autocratic rule of the feudal state chiefs. This report the facts of the enquiry committee severely indicting the then Maharaja of Patiala in 1935-39 for his acts of serious moral turpitude, non-judicial torture and killing of state’s leading social activists championing the cause of small peasants and other crimes. The Indictment of Patiala is a recorded testimony to the excesses committed by Maharaja of Patiala. It is an authentic, reliable chronicle of the dark period of Panjab’s History dominated by feudal chiefs. The report presents a glaring contrast between the in human acts of feudal chief’s depravity and the highest and the noblest acts of human endurance, nobility and sacrifice. The final indictment is based on the testimony of the victims and their perpetrators.
