Title Nargas
Description An anthology of poems originally written in Punjabi by a celebrated Punjabi poet and a mystic Bhai Vir Singh and translated into English by Prof Puran Singh describes the beauty of nature in its myriad forms. The title "Nargis", the rare Indian flower (Narcissus) represents the beauty of the entire Indian flora. The poems in this anthology capture the various scenes, sounds and fragrance of Indian landscape in spring and autumn. While the poems on Moonlight, Nargis, Punjab autumn and evergreen branches of orange trees reflect the beauty of nature, poems on Indian rivers Ganga, Godavri, Jamuna, song of Cukoo bird, Nightingale and Flower gatherers describe the sounds of nature. Similarly, poems on Lotus-leaf, Nargis, Chrysanthemums and flowers in garland capture the fragrance in Indian landscape. These scenes, sounds and fragrance of nature together transport the poet into an ecstatic mood in which he has a glimpse of the Divine though his love of nature.
