Title Mughal Miniatures of the Earlier Periods
Description Painting is one of the fine arts through which subtle human instincts have been expressed throughout the human history. Miniature paintings are the boldest expression of several motifs. The present album contains miniatures belonging to the Mughal period in India's history, especially during the reigns of Akbar (1556-1605), Jahangir (1605-27) and some miniatures belonging to Jahangir's time (1627). Some of the prominent motifs in these miniatures are Mughal Court, legend of Laila Majnu, and hunting. These miniatures are a synthesis and assimilation of ancient Persian art, European art as well as traditional Indian art. Some miniatures form Margin decorations around the Arabic verses of ancient Iranian and Mughal period poets like Hafiz, Firdausi and Maghribi. These miniatures form a beautiful form a beautiful bouquet of Mughal period art
