Title |
The Sikh- Hindu Province in the Punjab |
Description |
This treatise written by Dr. M. S. Randhawa, ICS, published under the name of Giani Kartar Singh makes a forceful plea for the creation of an autonomous state/province with in the union of Indian soon after India's independence from the British rule. The geographical territory of this proposed autonomous state will consist of Ambala Jullundur divisions Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Lahore districts. Such a state will consist of 19% Sikhs, 38% Muslims & 43% Hindus. Although Sikhs & Hindu will be in minority in such a state, but they will not dominated by Muslims and major Sikh & Hindu shrines will fall in this state. It will not only safeguard minority rights but will also be a financially viable state. But this demand did not find favour with the British and Muslims. |
