Title |
Banishment of Sita |
Description |
The book is a critical study of the dilemma and agony of Lord Rama while he is making a decision to banish his wife Sita from Ayodha on charges of losing her chastity while in Ravana's custody. The author also brings out the position of Women in Hindu society where she is a victim of man's exploitation. As the book was banned after violent protests by Arya Samaj and other Hindu organizations , the author remained defiant and steadfast in his views. Although the mob mentality and narrow-minded Arya Samaj kept castigating the author and the book, the author was acquitted of all charges by the law court. After his acquittal, intelligent, sensible people and scholars started supporting the authors' view and asserted that the objective, independent spirit of enquiry was the real hallmark of the real Hinduism or Sanatanism. Thus, the book is a valuable document which upholds the true Sanatanist spirit of Eternal Inquiry. |
